Derek William

I am a hardworking, lifelong Californian who comes from a family rich in community service. My parents and grandparents set the groundwork for me with the ideals of working hard, standing up for what is right, be honest, be kind, and make a difference.

I have two degrees in Business Administration; a Bachelor of Arts from California State University San Bernardino, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of La Verne. I have served in a management capacity in two large companies prior to my 30-year law enforcement career. My skillset is diverse and unique. My ability to
problem solve, and work with individuals in a multitude of environments, gives me an advantage with a broad perspective and understanding of how to work with people.

I have participated as a coach and mentor for youth sports and have been very active in the lives of my children and grandchildren. Being involved and present, being a role model, and showing compassion and understanding while still maintaining integrity, is my motto.

My vision of La Cresta is to find the balance between maintaining the serine tranquility of the existing community, while also pushing forward with new ideas and programs as the community elects. La Cresta is rich in tradition with the equine community, while also serving those who do not own horses. It certainly can be equally beneficial for all.

I believe that. If elected my priorities are simple.

 

1) Return to a level of financial openness with the community leading to a greater level of trust and confidence.

2) Instill a level of respect in the positions within the HOA, with those serving on the board, committees and volunteers. Decision making will become easier and more effective.

3)Accountability, for the HOA, members, community, and the property management company.

4) Survey the community on a regular basis to verify a unified direction for La Cresta and solicit active participation which leads to a more cohesive mission.

5) Search out a similar community to partner with. 

 

In closing, my life experience, coupled with my work experience, has given me an extremely well-rounded perspective from which to make decisions. I have successfully led and supervised many programs, groups, teams, squads, from all facets of society, to accomplish whatever mission was required. I have a tremendous support system, which keeps me grounded and true. I will represent the position with pride.
